The Touchmart TAP Kiosk is an all in one self service terminal that was developed to help offer services to people in remote or disadvantaged areas through the use of a wireless network. The kiosk services included ATM services, event booking (such as football matches, and cinema tickets), ticket printing and prepaid voucher purchases. The Kiosk was constructed from a combination of sheet metal and RIM materials. The cash machine was housed in a purpose designed safe box for security reasons. The design also offered advertising opportunities through a digital display as well as a lightbox in the door.
The design was awarded an SABS design excellence award for its positive contribution to people living in disadvantaged areas.
The below images show some of the complex geometry of the TAP's construction. Due to the numerous devices included as part of the kiosk's service offering, it was a challenge to comfortably house all the electronics whilst considering cable management and maintenance. These challenges were overcome through a rigorous prototyping and testing process.
