The Switch-Me adaptable iPhone case is a collection of adaptors that can be clipped on and off the iPhone 6,7 and 8 models to suit some common everyday use cases. We are never without our phones and because our phones hold a lot of value these days they are often cradled by an additional protective case. This was the opportunity that was spotted by Switch-Me, to augment the protective case to a more useful level.  The idea is that the phone is encircled by a protective frame that offers drop and scratch protection onto which various adaptors can then be attached, each offering a different functional use case to further enhance the fact that we always have our phones with us!

See the Switch-Me product video below.

The unique clip on system between the protector and the adaptors is designed to minimise the cases' thickness without detracting from its appearance. The following initial adaptors were developed:

1. The wallet case - To store essential cards and cash for everyday use. Why carry a wallet and a phone?

2. A battery case - Offering a power boost when the phone battery is low. Always helpful when you're out and about.

3. A bluetooth speaker - So that music can be shared and enjoyed on the go.

Extensive research was conducted into the applicable use cases and current trends at the time and were developed in line with perceived user needs and current technology limitations that suited the form factor.

Each adaptor has the same thickness and profile to form a consistent product family

The Switch-Me case has been designed with the elegance and form of the iPhone in mind, echoing the rounded contours of the phone while offering the benefits of protection and additional functionality provide by the adaptors. The rounded form feels comfortable to hold in your hand and the gloss or soft touch finishes further add to the adaptors' tactile qualities. The rounded form allows for seamless in/out pocket insertion and the durable PC+ABS materials offer durable protection, standing up to most everyday accidents. The cases are designed in line with Apple MFI requirements.

The battery case also allows for the storage of a few cards

Additional adaptor concepts that make use of the same clip on system were developed, further extending the possible use cases for the system. Other phone models were also explored, with concepts being developed for the Samsung Galaxy S7 as well.
